A MAN has been arrested following a 'domestic dispute' in which a woman and her dog are believed to have been thrown out of a window in south Belfast.

It is understood that the woman, and her miniature schnauzer, were thrown out of a first floor window in the Tate’s Avenue area at around 11pm on Monday night.

PSNI officers asked local residents yesterday to be on the look out for the dog, which is thought to have run off after the incident.

Police asked anyone who found the dog to bring it to a vet, as it is likely that it was injured in the fall.

The PSNI confirmed that a 31 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, causing unnecessary suffering to animals, criminal damage and assault on police.
