TWO women have been stabbed in a house in west Belfast.

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the attack in Cloona Manor in the early hours of today.

Just after 2am, police received a report that two women, one in her thirties and the other in her fifties, both received stab wounds. They both required hospital treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Harry Colgan said: "A 35-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of burglary and inflicting grievous bodily harm while a 28-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Both currently remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries."

Sinn Fein West Belfast assembly member Jennifer McCann wished the two victims a speedy recovery.

"There is the potential for death or life changing injures when knives are used so I am relieved that no one has been seriously injured in this incident.

"I hope that both women make a full and speedy recovery and anyone with any information on the incident should bring it forward to the PSNI."
