A FIRE at a house in Co Derry is being treated as arson.

The blaze started in the garden of a property in the Piney Hill area of Magherafelt just after 10pm on Wednesday.

The flames, which destroyed an oil tank, also spread to a neighbouring property.

A female householder in her 50s escaped uninjured.

Detective Inspector William Tate from the PSNI said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives in Cookstown police station on the non emergency number 101."
