Nine more people have died with Covid-19 and a further 1,764 people have tested positive for the virus.

In the past seven days the highest number of new cases has been diagnosed in the 10 to 14 age group with 1,145 children testing positive while children and young people aged 0 to 19 accounted for 35% of all cases. A total of 10,024 people tested positive in that time frame.

It emerged today that at least 400 pupils from Larne High School in Co Antrim have been told to remain at home due to contact with positive cases.

There are 46 people with Covid-19 receiving specialist care in ICU and a total of 407 hospital patients have the virus. 

The north's seven-day infection rate is 529.3. Derry and Strabane council area has the highest rate (722.5) while Ards and North Down has the lowest rate (350).

There are Covid-19 outbreaks in 134 care homes across the north. Seven hospitals are operating over capacity.

The death toll stands at 2,417 and 52 people have died in the past seven days.
