Two more people have died after contracting coronavirus in Northern Ireland, figures from the Department of Health have revealed.

Both deaths occurred since 10am yesterday, bringing the north's total number of coronavirus-related fatalities to 518.

There were another 16 positive cases for coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 4,663.

According to the figures, six intensive care beds in the north are occupied by people who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke with Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill on the phone this afternoon as part of his engagement with the devolved regions.

Earlier today the Republic's Health Service Executive warned there were no guarantees a coronavirus vaccine will be found.

Chief Clinical oOfficer Dr Colm Henry: "We're in an environment where there is no evidence and we are relying on the principals of infection control.

"This is a very transmissible virus. We have nothing to draw on other than what other countries are trying to do.
