Coronavirus: 17 more deaths confirmed in Northern Ireland

There have been a further 17 confirmed deaths of patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland, according to the Department of Health.

This brings total deaths in the north to 404.

Six people died in the last 24 hours while another 11 deaths occurred earlier but were only reported today.

There were 45 new positive tests for the virus, bringing the total number of people infected in to 3,881.

There are currently 26 intensive care beds being occupied by people infected with Covid-19.

Figures released today show the UK has now surpassed Italy in having the highest coronavirus death toll in Europe.

The UK Office of National Statistics said 32,375 people have now died after contracting Covid-19.
