Primary school pupils enjoyed `sum' fun as part of an event deigned to promote a positive image of maths.

More than 250,000 young people took part in this year's Maths Week Ireland, the biggest maths festival in the world.

As well as promoting a positive image of maths, events were held to highlight the subject's importance in everyday life.

For P4 pupils from St John Baptist PS, a special interactive Maths Homework Club at the Ulster Museum proved that maths can be fun and not just a chore.

The mathematicians were joined by parents, grandparents and teachers at a session led by Bubblz the Maths Clown.

Bubblz is part of a team of multi- talented maths educators from Ireland, the UK , Europe and the US who take part in Maths Week each year. Each demonstrates a different side of their skills set as they use magic, card tricks, games and puzzles to emphasise that maths can be fun.

Backed by Maths Week partner the Ulster Museum, the Maths Homework Club aimed to encourage and support parents to help develop their children's numeracy skills.
