A woman in her thirties has been arrested after a car plunged over a sea wall in Co Derry.

The coastguard, PSNI and Fire Service were called to the scene at the Crescent in Portstewart shortly after 10am yesterday.

It was reported that an uninjured woman aged in her twenties was helped from the car by ambulance personnel.

A spokesman for the Fire Service said firefighters had attended an incident yesterday morning "involving a car on the rocks".

"A woman in her twenties was assisted from the car by ambulance personnel. She was uninjured. Firefighters stabilised the vehicle.

"The incident was dealt with at 10.30am," he added.

A PSNI spokesman said: "A woman in her thirties has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol in breath, and is currently in custody. There are no further details".
