Irish broadcaster and pop singer Arthur Murphy dies

RTÉ TV and radio presenter Arthur Murphy, who was best known for hosting Mailbag, has died at the age of 90.

Murphy was also a pop singer and performed with Shirley Bassey while appearing on the same tv music shows as Jimi Hendrix. He was produced by legendary Beatles producer George Martin.

Mailbag was broadcast on RTÉ One from 1982 to 1996 on Saturday evenings and dealt with viewers' letters and complaints concerning programmes.
