Police said a man who attempted to rob a fast food outlet in south Belfast was "wrestled" out of the premises by three members of staff.

The man entered the premises on the Ormeau Road at around 4am today and approached the till area.

A PSNI spokesman said: "He was wrestled out of the premises by three members of staff. He left the scene empty handed.

"The suspect was wearing a white motorcycle helmet with red stripes, a green khaki jacket and dark coloured jeans. He was carrying a black sports bag with a white stripe".

Police said the members of staff were not injured but were left "very badly shaken".

Police have appealed for information.
