A 45-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with attempted possession of a prohibited weapon linked to the INLA.

He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates' Court on December 19.

The man was also reported to the Public Prosecution Service for possession of class C drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal funds.

A 57-year-old woman who was arrested with the man on Wednesday has been released unconditionally.

A 40-year-old man was arrested for possession of class C drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. He was later released without charge.

The arrests came following searches in the Galliagh, Buncrana Road and Ballymagroarty areas of Derry.

The raids were part of a probe into INLA criminality including the supply of drugs and illicit cigarettes, money laundering and a paramilitary-style attack on November 14.

Class A and B drugs were seized during the search in Galliagh. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply but was later released on bail.

Class C drugs were seized during the searches in the Ballymagroarty and Buncrana Road areas, as well as documents, phones, computers and cash.
