Ulster Irish Dancing Championships begin in Omagh

The 2018 An Chomhdhail Ulster Irish Dancing Championships is underway in Omagh.

The week-long contest will run until Saturday November 3 and is taking place in Omagh Leisure Complex. Organised by the West Tyrone Branch of An Chomhdhail, the event will run daily from 9am until 10pm and is expected to draw more than 1,000 visitors every day.

The event will also feature an exhibition titled 'A Step in Time', outlining the history of Irish dancing.

Omagh Leisure Complex will continue to operate as normal during the event, with all facilities open to the public, although visitors are advised that the centre and car-park will be busier than usual during competition hours.

An An Chomhdhail spokesperson wished all participants well for the contest.

"Good luck to every dancer taking to the stage this week at the 2018 Ulster Championships. This is your time to shine, dance your very best, make new friends, have fun and enjoy your visit to Omagh," he said.
