A WOMAN in her 30s has been left with "serious" injuries following a crash in Co Down.
The incident occurred yesterday on the Portaferry Road outside the village of Kircubbin in the Ards Peninsula at around 12.45pm.
A Ford Transit van and a car were involved in the collision, and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
It is not known if yesterday's freak weather conditions played a part in the crash.
A PSNI spokesman said: "A female in her 30s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage available to contact police."
DUP councillor Naomi Armstrong-Cotter told the Irish News last night: "This looks to have been a bad crash and our thoughts and prayers are with this young woman and her loved ones at this worrying time.
"I wish her a speedy recovery, and would encourage anyone who can help police with their enquiries in this matter to come forward."
