A DAY of pilates classes will take place in Belfast tomorrow to help raise vital funds for cancer research.

The all day event, at the Agape Centre on the Lisburn Road, is being held in memory of pilates enthusiast Nicola Barr, who passed away in April following a battle with breast cancer.

Organised by NeilPilates the first of 10 classes kicks off at 9am and go on throughout the day and include pilates classes for children and also in Irish.

Those attending are asked to donate a minimum of £5 per class.

All the money raised will be donated to support cancer research at The Centre for Cancer Research & Cell Biology in Belfast.

Gwyneth Hinds, one of the teachers who works for NeilPilates, said the death of Ms Barr, who was in her late 40s, had inspired her classmates and teachers to organise an event in her memory.

She has encouraged people to come along and support the event - even if they have never tried pilates before and there is no need to book.

"It would be a good opportunity to try pilates for the first time. It's just going to be fun as well," she said.

Further details are available on the NeilPilates Facebook page.
