Police are investigating a link between two suspected arson attacks in Dunmurry and Hilden, during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Shortly before 2:55am, police received a report that two cars had been set on fire in the Riverside area of Dunmurry. Another car indirectly caught alight as a result of the incident.

It is understood that an accelerant was used.

Police received a second report of arson, just over two hours later, at the Barbour Lodge area of Hilden.

Chief Inspector Wilson said: “At around 5:10am, it was reported that two cars were set on fire outside a property in the area. Another car was also damaged as a result of the incident. All three cars were badly damaged."

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Services extinguished the blaze at both incidents.

Police are appealing to anyone with any information in relation to the incidents to contact police in Lisburn.
