A LOVE Island contestant who worked on the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme in Britain will not be called before Northern Ireland's RHI inquiry.

Zara McDermott, who joined the hit ITV2 reality show at the weekend, worked for the British government's Department of Energy and Climate Change until October 2017 which involved "leading on fraud for the RHI scheme", according to her LinkedIn profile.

It prompted speculation that the 21-year-old from Essex could be asked to attend Stormont's public inquiry examining Northern Ireland's botched version of the green-energy scheme.

An RHI inquiry spokesman refused to comment, but it's understood there are no plans for Ms McDermott to be asked to give evidence at the inquiry.
