THE partner of a Co Derry man who died after reportedly being assaulted while on a family holiday in Majorca has told of shock at his death saying he had made her 'the happiest she'd ever been.'

Aaron Henderson from the Coleraine area died in hospital on Monday.

It is understood he was on holiday with his partner Danielle Baxter and two young children on the Spanish island when the tragedy happened.

In a post on Facebook Ms Baxter said: "I love you Aaron 'Hendy' Henderson always and forever … uve (sic) made me the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life.

"Life is cruel.. Love and miss you always. . My babes xxxxxxxx."

While the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, reports have suggested Mr Henderson suffered serious head injuries after he was attacked in Magaluf over the weekend.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office last night declined to comment on the reports he had been assaulted.

A statement only said:"We are supporting the family of a British national following his death in Majorca".

Mr Henderson was well known in the Coleraine area and worked for a family wholesale business in the town.

In a statement, Paul Henderson Wholesales said the store would remain "closed until further notice".

"We appreciate your patience and understanding and ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time," it added.

Hundreds of tributes have been posted online to Mr Henderson, who has been described as "such a lovely young fella who was always smiling".

Customers of the family firm have also been offering their condolences to Mr Henderson's family following the devastating news.

One tribute said: "He was a true gent and such a polite young man", while another added "he was a decent lad always smiling and up for some banter".

A customer also said: "Aaron was such a lovely guy, was always a pleasure seeing him in the store and he always had something nice to say".

Another said: "Oh my god Paul we are so so sorry to hear the terrible news about Aaron we were in the shop on sat and the girls were saying he was in a bad way".

A friend of Mr Henderson also posted a tribute: "Rest in peace Aaron Henderson. Life is cruel. "It wasn't even that long ago I was speaking away to you just hard to believe. My thoughts go out to his family friends and kids".
