THE Irish News has been commended in two categories at a prestigious newspaper awards event.

The categories are divided into highly-focused sections reflecting the key areas of news media publishing – print, digital and business.

Meanwhile, three of the publication's reporters have been short-listed in the Sociey of Editors Regional Press Awards.

Sports writers Neil Loughran and Cahair O'Kane are among six reporters who have been short-listed for Daily/Sunday Sports Journalist of the Year.
