THREE people were stopped during a police operation in Belfast city centre yesterday afternoon.

An unmarked police car was seen driving the wrong way along a one-way street to apprehend them.

An eye-witness said a man and a woman were spoken to by two PSNI officers and allowed to leave the scene.

However, the officers appeared to spend time talking to another man, who they held at the scene in Union Street for a time.

Police also appeared to place an item in a police forensic bag.

When asked last night for information on the incident, a PSNI spokesman said there was "no record" of the report.
