A CAR has been set on fire in a suspected arson attack in Dromore, Co Down.

Police said a rear window of the vehicle was smashed and a bottle containing accelerant thrown into the vehicle in the Gallows Street area before it was set alight.

Extensive damage was caused to the vehicle during the attack on Friday at around 11pm.

A police spokesman, who appealed for information, said two males wearing T shirts and baseball caps were seen near the car before the fire started.

It is believed they have got into a silver Vauxhall Corsa and drove off in the direction of Maypole Hill and the town centre.
