A 24-YEAR-OLD man suspected of burgling the home of a retired teacher who was later found dead has been arrested about a similar break-in just days later.

The man and a second aged 23 were arrested at around 11.25pm on Wednesday after police stopped a stolen car in Ballysillan, north Belfast.

The Audi A1 had been taken during a creeper burglary at a house in Blackrock Park Avenue in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, earlier that night.

Police said the 24 year-old was being questioned last night about a string of burglaries, including the burglary at the home of May Stevens (64) in Lismoyne Park, north Belfast early on Sunday.

Her car had been stolen up to 90 minutes before her body was discovered by police.

Officers had called to her home after her car was spotted going through a red light and failed to stop for police.

The PSNI initially said it was treating her death as suspicious.

But following the results of a post-mortem examination, police said the death was not suspicious.

Detective Inspector Michael McDonnell said the 24-year-old man is being questioned about Wednesday night's break-in and burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Lismoyne Park, Kelvin Parade, Cavehill Drive and Broadway areas of Belfast.

"Both remain in custody at present," he said.
