Police car badly damaged after weekend crash

The scene on Saturday after a police car was involved in a crash with another vehicle close to Forestside Shopping Centre in south Belfast

A POLICE car was left badly damaged after being involved in a crash in south Belfast at the weekend.

The collision, between the police vehicle, believed to have been on an emergency call, and a white Hyundai SUV took place on the Upper Knockbreda Road at the junction of the Saintfield Road on Saturday morning.

It was reported one of the cars involved burst into flames following the crash, but it is understood that no serious injuries were sustained by those involved.

Emergency services attended the scene and traffic diversions were in place for a period on Saturday as efforts were made to clear the scene.
