A TEENAGER has pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run death of jogger Lesley-Ann McCarragher just a month after previously denying any involvement.

Nathan Finn (19) appeared before Newry Crown Court yesterday where he admitted to causing the death of Ms McCarragher by dangerous driving. He also pleaded guilty to having no licence or insurance.

Ms McCarragher (19) was jogging along Monaghan Road in Armagh on April 9 2016 when she was struck by Finn's car. He drove away without stopping.

Finn, whose address was given as Woodlands' Juvenile Justice Centre, stood in the dock at Newry court wearing a grey sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.

He replied "guilty, your honour" as each of seven charges were read out.

Pre-sentence reports have been ordered for March 2.

The case continues against co-accused, Damien Paul McCann (30) of Monaghan Road, Armagh, who is charged with causing Ms McCarragher's death by dangerous driving.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge last month and has been remanded on continuing bail.

McCann's trial begins on March 5.

The judge explained that Finn cannot be sentenced until the completion of McCann's trial. Finn will remain in custody until then.
