GAA broadcaster Marty Morrissey insists tan is 'natural' as he takes to the Dancing With The Stars dance floor

GAA commentator Marty Morrissey has insisted his famous deep tan does not come from a can as he last night took to the dance floor for the first time on RTE's Dancing With The Stars.

However, the Co Cork pundit did reveal that he has not ruled out a spray tan touch up in the forthcoming weeks, as he takes part in the reality dancing show, alongside professional Ukranian partner, Ksenia Zsikhotska.

The pair are just one of 11 couples taking part in this year's series, which got under way last night.

Other well-known faces taking part include comedian and actress Deirdre O’Kane, 2FM presenter, Bernard O’Shea, author and broadcaster, Maia Dunphy, musician, Jake Carter - whose brother is Nathan Carter - and fitness model, Erin McGregor, whose brother is MMA fighter, Connor McGregor.

Speaking before his first debut performance, 59-year-old Marty Morrissey described the DWTS experience as a "chance to re-calibrate your life".

"I have lost about 10lbs," he said.

"It's the influence of these beautiful people, they are all so slim and you feel guilty having your can of Coke. I copy them if I'm honest, having salads and water.

"This is the chance to do something for three weeks and if you can get something more out of it then all the beetter. I am drinking loads of water, which I never do normally. It gives you the chance to re-calibrate your life".

He also took the opportunity to set the story straight about his golden skin tone.

"My tan is natural" he said.

"I want you to emphasise that. I've never had a spray tan and I'm not getting one this week. Although I might get one next week".
