Police appeal for witnesses to fatal Co Antrim crash

THE Co Antrim village of Dunloy has been left "in shock" following the death of a 57 year-old man in a road crash.

Anthony McGhee, a father of two from Dunloy, died from injuries sustained in the collision which happened on the A26 Crankill Road, at its junction with the Kildowney Road.

Police have appealed for information and in particular want to speak to the driver of a white van, believed to have been in the area at the time.

Sinn Féin assembly member Philip McGuigan said the village was "in shock" following the death of Mr McGhee, who worked as a joiner.

"Everybody is in shock," he said.

"Dunloy is small, close-knit, everybody would have known Anthony. Obviously, I would pass my condolences on to his family and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time."

He added: "I would echo if there are witnesses of the accident, come forward to police".

Mr McGhee's death brings to 62 the number of people to die on the north's roads so far this year.
