A PUBLIC consultation has been launched on proposals for the redevelopment of leisure facilities in east Belfast.

The restoration and extension of Templemore Baths and the redevelopment of Avoniel Leisure Centre are part of a £40 million investment by Belfast City Council into facilities in the east of the city.

Proposed facilities at Avoniel will include several 3G pitches and new studios, while the overall aim at Templemore is to create a facility where the "focus will be on heritage preservation, spa provision and increased swimming provision".

The council has also said that the new Robinson Centre will also open its doors in 2019.

The public consultation runs until January 14 with development proposals available to view at www.belfastcity.gov.uk/consultations
