SCHOOL pupils yesterday welcomed three-time All-Ireland winning Tyrone manager Mickey Harte to a special assembly celebrating inspirational people.

Boys and girls from the Gaelic teams at the 450-pupil St John the Baptist PS in west Belfast were given the opportunity to quiz Tyrone's most successful manager.

Mr Harte paid tribute to the vocational and volunteering community - those who choose to coach and teach and who dedicate their time and efforts to the school.

"Create a great team, not just a team of great players. It's about more than doing a good job. It's about remaining committed to the values we believe in," he said.

A presentation was made to Michael Pollock, who leads the school Gaelic teams, for his dedication to inspire pupils in learning and through play.

Acting principal Michelle Morgan said: "This is a very exciting time for our school, our sporting teams are going from strength to strength, our new state-of-the-art playground is almost ready for use and our school staff work tirelessly to make the learning environment exciting and inspirational."
