A masked man has broken into a parochial house in Co Antrim and demanded money.

Police said the man forced entry to the property, which belongs to the Glenavy and Killead Parish, on the Chapel Road in Glenavy at around 8.50pm on Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant McIntosh said: "Police received a report just after 9.05pm that a short time earlier, at approximately 8.50pm, a masked male forced entry into the property and demanded money.

"No money was taken during the incident and the male subsequently fled".

Police said one man who was present in the house - thought to be a priest - was not injured during the ordeal.

The suspect is described as being between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a dark-coloured overcoat and wellington boots.

Police have appealed for information about the incident.
