FAMILY and friends of 51-year-old murder victim Anne O'Neill will gather this morning for her funeral.

Requiem Mass will be held in St Anne's Church at Kingsway in Finaghy at 10am, followed by a service at Roselawn Crematorium at 1pm.

Ms O'Neill, a mother of two, died on Saturday October 22 following an alleged attack at her parents' house on Ardmore Avenue in Finaghy in the early hours of the morning.

Neighbours were left shocked following the tragedy in the quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of south Belfast.

Ms O'Neill was discovered in the back garden with injuries.

Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the mother-of-two but were unable to save her and she died at the scene.

Her son, Declan O'Neill, of Malone Avenue, has been remanded in custody charged with her murder after appearing in court last Wednesday.

The 27-year-old doctor, who denies the charge, had been working a locum doctor at Belfast Trust hospitals.

He did not seek bail.

The former nurse is survived by her son, daughter Claire Anne, parents George and Claire and brothers Gerard and Paul.
