A BROTHER of Co Antrim murder victim Laurence Shaw last night told of how all the family want now is "to get him home".

John Shaw also described how he has been left "numbed" by the killing of his younger brother, who was known as Lornie.

The 56-year-old was found dead in his home in Larne on Monday. His family have said they believe his throat had been cut.

A postmortem was due to be carried out yesterday to establish how he died, but the results of the tests have not yet been made public.

Relatives of Mr Shaw have returned from England and Scotland following his tragic death and the family were last night awaiting news of when his body will be released.

John Shaw last night told The Irish News of how his grieving family remain "in the dark" about what happened.

"I'm just numbed, we still can't believe what's happened," he said.

"We are just in the dark, we don't know anything yet.

"I can't tell any of my friends or people calling as we just don't know.

"All we want at this stage is to get him home."

Mr Shaw was last seen alive on Sunday afternoon - a day before a friend discovered his body at his Hillmount Gardens bungalow in the Seacourt estate.

Police had initially said they were treating his death as "suspicious" and a murder investigation was later launched.

A 39-year-old man was arrested by police in the early hours of Tuesday and last night remained in police custody.

Residents have suggested there had been a party at the house over the weekend. There had also been a small fire inside the property prior to the discovery of his body.

His family believe the avid football supporter, who had been in ill health following a heart attack a few years ago, had his throat cut before someone tried to burn the house.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on Mr Shaw's movements on Sunday or anyone seen visiting his home to contact them.
