Man released on bail after arson attack on house in west Belfast

A 21 YEAR-OLD man arrested in connection with an arson attack on the home of a family in west Belfast has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The family, including six children, escaped injury when a canister containing a flammable substance was set on fire at the house at St Gall's Avenue in the Clonard area at around 8.40pm on Tuesday.

The blaze was extinguished before it took hold but the front door of the property was badly scorched.

The 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the arson and an incident of aggravated burglary at the same property on Sunday evening.
