SUPPORTERS and players were involved in a brawl at the weekend after Maghery’s defeat of Crossmaglen Rangers.

More than 20 people fought minutes after the whistle blew on the Armagh SFC semi-final at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.

Fans took to the field with many initially trying to break up fighting between players before getting involved themselves. GAA backroom staff could also be seen in the skirmish.

It is understood the the Armagh County Board is likely to investigate the incident, though no-one from the board was available for comment last night.

The board may also have access to official footage of the trouble, because it has its own ‘Armagh TV Live’ which films games.

The incident lasted for several minutes, with announcements ordering supporters to leave the pitch.
