Police appeal after man attacked with bottle in north Belfast

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was attacked with a bottle in north Belfast.

The 36-year-old received head injuries and a number of deep cuts to his arms and back in the incident, which happened at around 8.15pm on Saturday night in the Parkend Street area.

He was treated in hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective sergeant Stephen Gardiner asked the public for help in tracking down the suspect who carried out the attack.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw the suspect in the area at the time of the incident," he said.

"He is described as being in his mid-30s, bald and wearing a blue top and grey track bottoms with blue or black stripes down the sides. He left the address around 8.20pm and was seen heading towards the Alexandra Park area."

A 35-year-old woman was arrested at the scene of the attack on suspicion of assisting an offender and is in police custody.
