Traffic restrictions will be in place next week on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast as a road improvement scheme gets underway

A £120,000 resurfacing scheme is due to get underway on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast next week.

The work is to begin on Monday August 21 and is due to finish on the following Monday.

It will involve the resurfacing of the carriageway from 642 Crumlin Road to its junction with the Ligoniel Road.

From Monday to Friday, the country-bound lane will be closed one way from 9am to 6pm, while on Sunday August 27 and Monday August 28 a full road closure in both directions will be in operation from 7am to 6pm.

The Department for Infrastructure has said that access for residents will be maintained in the area during the work, and that diversionary routes will be signposted.

The department has urged motorists to allow additional time for their journey and to expect delays.
