Drunken attack on cyclist in south Armagh
A CYCLIST was attacked in south Armagh when he was struck on the leg with a beer bottle.
A car travelling on the Siverbridge road drew up alongside him and a passenger assaulted him at around 10am on Sunday.
Sinn Féin councillor Mickey Larkin said the cyclist was injured and left badly shaken. The car sped off with the occupants throwing more bottles on the road.
"This was a reckless criminal assault upon a visitor to the area who was out enjoying an early morning cycle through South Armagh," Mr Larkin said.
"It is obvious that those involved were under the influence of alcohol and put the life of this cyclist at risk."
Police said they had no record of the attack.
