A CASTLEDERG Sinn Féin councillor remains in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a workplace accident involving a forklift and metal cage.
Kieran McGuire (40) from Aghyaran was transferred to an Intensive Care Unit at Altnagelvin hospital in Derry after undergoing surgery for a broken ankle and fibula last Thursday. His leg was also broken in three places.
It understood the accident took place on a farm and Mr McGuire, a welder by trade, was driving the vehicle. He is recovering in a high dependency unit in the hospital.
Mr McGuire is a full-time councillor at Derry City and Strabane district council.
