Man found in River Lagan identified after a week of public appeals

A MAN whose body was discovered more than a week ago in south Belfast has been identified by police, although his name has not yet been released.

The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was found in the River Lagan near Shaw's Bridge in south Belfast on Friday July 14 with just a house key in his possession.

Police had made several public appeals for information in an attempt to establish the identity of the man, whose death is not being treated as suspicious.

Meanwhile, a man whose body was found in Hillsborough Forest Park has not yet been named.

Part of the forest was cordoned off after the discovery of the body on Friday.

Police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
