AN exhibition of paintings showing the life of legendary warrior Cú Chulainn will be displayed at the Linen Hall Library in Belfast this summer.

The Laoch na Laochra/Hero of Heroes exhibition will run between July 4-20. Cú Chulainn's story, which dates back to the 7th century, will be displayed in a series of large paintings by artist Dara Vallely with text by Réamonn Ó Ciaráin.

The opening of the exhibition will include a performance of poetry and story telling by celebrated folk ensemble the Armagh Rhymers.

A separate exhibition by artist Joe Gildea, entitled Here and There, will be held between July 3 and August 26.

Originally trained in stained glass production, Gildea incorporates vibrant colour and robust compositions in a series of paintings celebrating the diversity of the Northenr Ireland landscape and people.
