POLICE investigating a sudden death close to Belfast city centre are not believed to be treating it as suspicious.

A man's body was found near Quay Gate in the Scrabo Street area on Tuesday. Police and emergency services attended the scene.

Police later said that a post mortem would be carried out on the man's body, but it is understood his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police attended the scene of the sudden death of a man in the Scrabo Street vicinity area of Belfast earlier today, Tuesday, 27 June.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
