THERESA May responded last night to the latest terror outrage in London by setting out plans for Government action.

Twelve people have so far been arrested after the violent attack which left seven people dead and 48 injured.

The arrests in Barking, east London, followed a raid at a flat belonging to one of the three attackers.

The attacks happened before 10pm on Saturday when a white van hit pedestrians on London Bridge.

Three men then got out and stabbed people in nearby Borough Market.

The attackers were shot dead by eight officers who fired 50 bullets. A member of the public was accidentally shot.

The new approach will involve a drive to counter extremist propaganda; international agreements to regulate cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremist ideology and an action to prevent the growth of separate, segregated communities in the UK.

It marks the biggest shake up of anti terror laws in over ten years.

The attack came less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 people, the youngest just eight-years-old, at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

The pop star returned to the city amid heightened security last night for the One Love Manchester, charity concert to raise money for the victims of the attack.
