Craigavon church facility damaged in overnight burglary

The burglary was reported at about 9am on Thursday morning

A CHURCH facility in Co Armagh has been damaged in an overnight burglary.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the incident at St Anthony's Parish Centre at Legahory, Craigavon.

Some damage was caused to the hall's internal doors and a quantity of cash was also stolen.

The burglary was reported to police at about 9am on Thursday morning. Officers believe the break-in happened some time during Wednesday night or the early hours of Thursday.

PSNI sergeant Melanie Gibson said: "To attack a centre like this where lots of people come to meet and socialise is a crime against the whole community, meaning that there is not just one victim but lots of victims."

Police urged anyone with information that could help their investigation to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 262 of 11/5/17, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
