A 49-year-old man has died after falling down a flight of stairs at a house in Co Down.

Martin Fearon is believed to have fallen at a property in the Reilly Street area of Banbridge. The father-of-two was from the Brookfield Avenue area of the town.

Police last night said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "In the early hours of Sunday 23rd April, police attended the scene of a sudden death of a man, aged in his late 40s, within the vicinity of Reilly Street in the Banbridge area.

"A post mortem examination will take place to determine the cause of death."

Mr Fearon's funeral is due to take place at St Patrick's Church, Dromore Street tomorrow at noon followed by burial at St Patrick's Cemetery.

Meanwhile, a man from Northern Ireland has been killed after being struck by a car in Majorca.

The victim, identified by Spanish police only as A O'Bryan (40), was knocked down in Calle Punta Ballena area of Magaluf early on Sunday morning and dragged more than 10 metres.

Medics spent around 30 minutes trying to revive him, but he died at the scene

It is understood the victim had only arrived on the Spanish island on Saturday with a group of friends to spend the weekend there.

Police in Magaluf said a 39-year-old Spanish man had been arrested and reportedly tested positive for alcohol and cocaine. There are reports the driver had been spotted speeding in the area moments before the tragedy.
