A 38-year-old rider remained critically ill in hospital last night after crashing during a race at the Tandragee 100.

Dario Cecconi, from Italy, was injured in the last lap of the Senior Support race in County Armagh on Saturday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the Southern Health and Social Trust confirmed he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.

In a separate incident, two people were hospitalised following a serious two vehicle collision in Co Tyrone at the weekend.

Emergency services attended the crash on the Augher road in Clogher which involved a black Mercedes and a black Audi A4 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police said that one of the people was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
