A WOMAN is in a stable condition in hospital after a single-vehicle crash on the M2 motorway.

The crash happened at around 9.30am yesterday on the northbound carriageway of the M2 between Templepatrick and Rathbeg.

The woman was taken to nearby Antrim Area Hospital for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

One lane of the motorway was closed for a period but later re-opened.

A Fire Service spokesman said: "Firefighters were called to attend a one vehicle road traffic collision. A female casualty was removed from the vehicle by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment."
