A 36-year-old man has been released on bail following a stabbing incident in Co Fermanagh.

In the early hours of Monday a 32-year-old man sustained wounds to his hip and thigh after being stabbed at a house in the border town of Derrylin.

The victim was treated in the South West Acute Hospital, but is understood to have been later released.

Fermanagh South Tyrone UUP MP Tom Elliott said the attack had to be condemned.

“I totally and utterly condemn this act of violence in Derrylin," he said.

"We do not need this in our community. I’m sure there are many unanswered questions in relation to this matter, I would urge anyone with any information to forward it onto the police as they carry out their investigation.”

In an update from police on Tuesday they confirmed that the 36-year-old arrested at the scene had been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police have appealed for information on the incident which took place inside a house on the Derrylin Road.
