POLICE were continuing to question three people last night about the murder of a 29 year-old man whose body was found at a house in Lurgan.

The trio – two men and a woman – were arrested on Thursday evening after the body of Paul Curran was discovered at around 2.50pm at a house in the Manor Drive area of the Co Armagh town.

It is understood a house party had taken place at the property, and police have urged anyone with information to contact them.

A post mortem is to be carried out to determine the cause of death, but police say they are treating the death as murder.

The three people arrested and currently in custody assisting police are believed to be in their 30s.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Upper Bann SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly said news of the death of Mr Curran from the Taghnevan area of the town, had left people "stunned".

“This is a quiet residential part of Lurgan, and there are a lot of elderly people living there who are stunned at what has happened on their doorstep.

“It’s a huge shock for the neighbours, and we can only imagine the pain felt by Paul’s loved ones.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family, and I hope that anyone who can assist in any way will come forward and speak with police.”

Sinn Féin MLA for Lurgan John O’Dowd said "the thoughts of the entire community are with the family at this very difficult time".

“Anyone with any information should not hesitate in bringing this forward to the PSNI," he said.

DUP MLA Carla Lockheart, who also reporesents the area, said the death was "shocking" and would be a cause of concern to the wider community of Lurgan.

"I express my sympathy to the family involved in this very tragic incident. To have a young life cut short in such circumstances is shocking."
