Man remanded on knife and ammunition charges

A Co Down man was remanded into custody today accused of having a lock knife, knuckle duster and ammunition in Belfast.

Desmond Lundy was arrested after a car was searched at Mayo Street in the north of the city on Thursday.

The 39-year-old, of Blenheim Drive in Newtownards, is charged with possessing a bladed article and an offensive weapon in public.

He faces further counts of having 10 shotgun cartridges in suspicious circumstances and driving while disqualified.

Lundy was connected to the alleged offences during an appearance at Belfast Magistrates' Court.

With no application for bail, he was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link in four weeks time.
