THE funeral of an east Belfast man who died after he suffered a serious head injury following a night out in Belfast will take place on Tuesday.

Conan Anderson, from the Short Strand, passed away last Saturday at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The young football coach's death came almost two weeks after he suffered a serious head injury following a night out in Belfast city centre.

The 22-year-old had been out at Thompson's Garage nightclub on Sunday, February 5 and left in the early hours of Monday, February 6.

Mr Anderson arrived home at around 7.30am but his family became concerned for his health later that evening and called an ambulance.

At hospital he was found to have suffered a serious head injury.

Police investigating what had happened Conan in the time after leaving the nightclub found there had been an incident at Arthur Lane in the city centre in the early hours of February 6.

Laurence Dowie (27) later appeared in court charged with Mr Anderson's manslaughter.

Requiem Mass for Conan Anderson will take place at 11am on Tuesday at St Matthew's Church.

The funeral will proceed afterwards to Roselawn Crematorium for a service a 1pm.
