A WOMAN is in a critical condition in hospital following a car crash in Bangor, Co Down on Saturday night.

The two-car collision happened on the A21 Newtownards bound carriageway between Bangor and Newtownards, at the junction with the Green Road, at around 11.20pm.

Three men and a woman, aged in her 30s, were taken to hospital, with the woman described as being in a serious condition.

The men suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Two men, both aged 22, were arrested in relation to the collision and one remained in custody last night assisting officers with their enquiries.

The road was closed for a period before being re-opened.

Police appealed for anyone with information to contact officers on 101.
