NORTHERN Ireland secretary of state James Brokenshire and DUP leader Arlene Foster are scheduled to attend a 'Post Brexit Ireland' conference in London.

But following Martin McGuinness' announcement on Monday afternoon that he had resigned as Deputy First Minister, it remains unclear if both politicians will attend Tuesday's seminar at Westminster.

Mr Brokenshire and Mrs Foster are among the panelists scheduled to appear at the Policy Exchange Seminar on 'Post Brexit Ireland'.

The event aims to discuss the implications of the 'Post Brexit realities on the island of Ireland' following the Brexit vote last year.

The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland will, however, address MPs today.

Sinn Féin veteran Martin McGuiness said he made his decision after his partner in government, DUP First Minister Mrs Foster, repeatedly refused to step down to facilitate a probe into the ill-fated Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
